Great food, great environment, and lovely service! Every employee had a smile on their face and that makes a difference. Even though they were short-staffed, we never had to ask them for anything, they were ON IT. They regularly topped off our coffee, keeping it hot. Also, we didn't get any, but they had a lemon pie in the fridge with the tallest meringue I had ever seen. It looked like something out of a dream! We got the blueberry pancakes (which were made with fresh blueberries), French toast, and huevos rancheros. Delicious. There were no leftovers!

We decided we were going to eat local while in town. We popped into this place for breakfast. We were immediately welcomed. You could tell this place was the place where all the locals went as you saw a bunch of regulars shuffle in. I did not want to over do it, so I ordered one blueberry pancake and some sausage. The blueberries were large and bursting with flavor. They did have sugar free syrup as I do not like to eat that much sugar for breakfast. The sausage was small patties, but had a good flavor. I really enjoyed this little spot. The food and service were top notch.

Friday lunch special was fried fish with fries, choice of veggie, salad, generous serving of dessert (peach cobbler or bread pudding), and tea/coffee. All for $12.49!! Fish was perfectly seasoned and everything was good. Service was prompt & friendly. You certainly can’t argue with quality, portion sizes, or service !

This is a favorite on our visits to Kerrville... great food, exceptional service, good atmosphere, and great music selection! Had the BLT and the bacon was cooked to perfection, nice and crispy. Let me tell you about the tomatoes...get something with them on/in it...enough said.

We are Winter Texans and have passed by many times and finally decided to stop and have lunch. First of all, Hill Country Cafe is a quaint Kerrville staple with an abundance of history and charm. And to top that, the owner and all the staff are very personable...they made us feel right at home. For our lunch order, I had a cup of creamy potato soup with half tuna salad sandwich and side salad and my husband enjoyed a Reuben and fries. The food was delicious and service was outstanding. Thank you to everyone at Hill Country Cafe for an awesome first time experience. So whether you're a permanent resident or just passing through, don't just pass by Hill Country Cafe. Stop and enjoy a meal...you're welcome.

Service is speedy as ever. As soon as you sit down, there is someone getting us coffee. I never had an empty cup. The food is PHENOMENAL! I got the huevos rancheros, and it came with homemade in house salsa that was top notch. I got it with refried beans that had exceptional flavor. Best of all, the prices are well within budget. Best place for a delicious breakfast with family in Kerrville. Its no wonder why this place has been open since 1942. Its truly deserving of the name “Texas Legend.”

Outstanding! The omelet was great, the sausage gravy was A+, and the coffee was a dream. The biscuits threw me for a little bit of a loop... The flavor of a good buttery biscuit, but the texture of a dinner roll took me a minute to wrap my head around. But man, were they good. The whole meal was incredible, wrapped in the atmosphere and excellent service of the small town 50s diner in a movie. Absolutely hit the spot after a couple nights camping at Lost Maples, our favorite state park. Hill Country Cafe is 100% our go-to after park spot from now on! Parking in the area isn't great, so we ended up about a block over and just walked. No biggie.

Cozy, hometown diner serving up traditional homemade breakfast with some small town charm. The local business cards imbedded into tables, cups and mugs, all add to the nostalgia. Old school at its finest. Breakfast was excellent! Crispy hash browns, fluffy eggs, homemade biscuits and gravy and blueberry pancakes were all perfect. The real kicker is the homemade salsa they brought out without even asking. Delicious!
